Point of Light Award

Cor Hutton founded ‘Finding Your Feet’ to support amputees after having her own hands and feet amputated in 2013.

Cor has broken three world records with her fundraising challenges, including becoming the first quadruple female amputee to conquer Ben Nevis. She has raised £250,000 which the charity uses to provide emotional, practical and physical support. At an event to celebrate Scottish Points of Light, Scotland Minister Lord Dunlop presented Cor with her award on behalf of the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister David Cameron said:

“Corinne is a Point of Light. From carrying the Commonwealth baton, to becoming the first female quadruple amputee in history to reach the summit of Ben Nevis, her world record-breaking physical challenges inspire others affected by amputation and raise funds for her fantastic ‘Finding Your Feet’ charity.”

Cor said:

“I was flattered and shocked when I was called by the Prime Minister’s office. I didn’t set up Finding Your Feet to win awards, but to help people after amputation, like I was helped by my very large support group. That said, it’s a nice compliment that someone recognises how hard it is, after such a life changing illness, just to get by day by day but also to go on to lead a positive life that makes a difference to others. “
